A regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) is an industrial process for the treatment of exhaust air. The system uses a bed of ceramic material to absorb heat from the exhaust gas produced during TransMet® production. It then uses this captured heat to preheat the incoming process gases, then oxidize these gases into CO2 and H2O before they’re released into the atmosphere, meanwhile the heat recycled and converted to electric energy to produce TransMet® again!
RTOs are very versatile and extremely efficient – thermal recovery efficiency can reach 95%, meanwhile destroy at least 99% VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that are discharged in industrial process exhausts.
